Sumedang larang kingdom is one of the Islamic empire that once stood in West Java, Indonesia. However, the popularity of this kingdom by the popularity of the kingdom of Demak, Mataram, Banten and Cirebon in historical literature Islamic kingdoms in Indonesia. Sumedang larang kingdom (now Sumedang District) is one of the various kingdoms Sundanese in West Java province, Indonesia. Besides other Sundanese kingdom also known as the kingdom of Padjadjaran which is still closely related to the previous kingdoms (Galuh), but the presence of the kingdom of Padjadjaran ends in Pakuan (Bogor) attack royal alliance Cirebon, Banten and Demak (Central Java). Sumedang larang kingdom comes from the Sunda-Pajajaran kingdom founded by King Geusan Ulun White Adji on the orders of King Suryadewata before the palace Galuh transferred to Padjadjaran, Bogor. Along with the changing times and leadership, Sumedang undergone several name changes. The first is the Royal Tembong Court (Tembong meaning apparent and Supreme means noble) led by King Master Adji White XII century. In the mid 16th century, Queen Pucuk umun, a female descendant of the kings of ancient Sumedang, who is a Muslim Sundanese married Prince Pupils (1505 to 1579 AD) which holds Ki Gedeng and ruled Sumedang Sumedang larang together and spread the teachings of Islam in the region. Pupils prince is the granddaughter of Maulana Sheikh Abdurahman (Sunan Panjunan) and great-grandson of Sheikh Datuk Kahf, a scholar of Arab descent Hadramaut derived from Mecca and the spread of Islam in many places throughout the Sunda kingdom. King Geusan Ulun crowned as the Regent of Sumedang I (1580-1608 AD) replace the power of his father, Prince Pupils. He set Kutamaya as the capital of the kingdom of Sumedang larang, which is located in the western part of the city. He ruled over Kuningan, Bandung, Garut, Lake, Sukabumi (Priangan) except Galuh (Ciamis). Sumedang kingdom at the time of King Geusan Ulun made progress in the areas of social, cultural, religious, military and political governance. Sultan Agung gave orders to Rangga Gempol I and his troops to lead an attack on Sampang, Madura. While the interim government handed over to his brother, Dipati Rangga Gede.
